 Still Point Art Gallery invites submissions for its upcoming online exhibition: Elements of Art: Texture.
Everything has texture, texture we can feel (tactile) as well as texture we can see (visual). Texture ranges from smooth and slick to rough and jagged. In between there is bumpy, choppy, gritty, coarse, pebbly, grainy, pitted, wrinkly, mushy, drippy, and on and on. Texture is more important to us than we might realize. We care about the texture of our food, our clothes, our furniture and surroundings. Texture is so important to us that it often elicits a response, sometimes favorable, sometimes unfavorable. Texture can help to convey a thought or a message. Texture is an important element of both tactile and visual communication, and thus an important element of design and art.

Eligibility: Open to artists 18 years of age or older from around the world who submit artwork in any medium except video and wearable art. Submissions must be the creation of the artist. Reproductions of original artwork, such as glicee prints of original paintings, will not be accepted. Selection and Awards: Final selections for the exhibition will be made by the Gallery Director, Christine Brooks Cote. All selected images will appear in our online gallery. In addition, one or more of pieces of each selected artist’s work will be printed in the Fall 2012 issue of Still Point Arts Quarterly. A small number of Artists of Distinction will be chosen who (1) will be invited to show their work as Gallery Artists for one year; (2) will receive Portfolio Awards, giving them the opportunity to have a portfolio of their work published in an upcoming issue of the Gallery’s art and literary journal, Still Point Arts Quarterly [an honorarium of $100 is given upon publication]; and (3) will be able to advertise at no cost in four consecutive issues of the Quarterly--a value of $180.
