| | Nancy Medina Art ~ Flower Mound Studio December 2012 |
Coloring the way brightly.... It's been a busy few weeks in Flower Mound Studio, with the requisite breaks for sojourns to grammy's for holiday feasting, mashed potato - Pug encounters of the best kind, and even a few moments to just sit, sigh contentedly, and reflect.
I set about work in the studio yesterday evening to splash paint around the simply enjoy the process, intentionally step over some boundaries, and slather hues together that had never before met in a sane studio world. That's when it occurred to me, this is pretty much my business plan.
Have fun. Paint for the sheer joy of it. Work hard.
I paint every day not just because it is good for my work, but because life is short and you should spend it doing something you feel absolutely passionate about. With close to 300 paintings going to new homes in 2012, my art and teaching business has evolved to something more than a hobby. It is now, officially, a business. Unconventional as it may be at times, I will walk this crooked, crazy path, and I will color it brightly.
As my thanks to you for making my dream come true, I'm giving away a 16x20 original sunflower painting on Christmas Day! Yes you do, you deserve it! Thank you so much for keeping me company on my art journey, and Merry Christmas and all the best to you and your loved ones this holiday season! My number one helper, AnnieBee! |
Shades of White Lilies and Red Berries is the newest work in Flower Let it Snow White Hydrangeas is a new work in Flound Studio, celebrating my new red vase *sound of trumpets*. The first time I knew I'd be painting the vase was on my way to teach a class in North Texas. I studied all of the red and maroon cars and trucks I passed along the way, thinking about what shades would be most striking lying next to one another.
Laying a warm red next to a cool red gives you some Pow. Laying a cold green with blue in it, next to a warm green with more yellow or gold in it, gives you a Pow. But only if you refrain from blending them into mush. Fight the urge to blend blend blend and let those pure color notes shine!
Here's to shining over the holiday season to come! *** Be colorful, and don't let anyone dim your wattage! The studio models take a bow! |

As my thanks this holiday season, I'm going to give away an original 16X20 sunflower painting on Christmas Day. Not a thing. If you're reading this newsletter today, you are already entered. My hubby will be picking the winner, with a little help from AnnieBee, since I am completely biased and unabashedly adore every one of you. On Christmas morning, serve up the egg nog and fire up the computer - I'll announce the winner that day. Hannah Sunbathing Hannah's Day in the Sun Last week, I took our adopted pug, Hannah on an outing, just me and her. Ever since we adopted Hannah, she would get so excited when I put her collar or harness on, and wanted to go with me even if I was just dressing her after her bath. Each time lately, though, the rides have ended up at the vet. The morning of our outing, when I put her collar on, instead of looking happy, Hannah hung her little head down. That's all it took for me to decide then and there we needed a special Hannah day out! I put a cute red harness on her and we went to PetSmart, where she wanted to walk up and down all the aisles. She greeted her adoring fans, folks who petted and told her how lovely she was. She looked so happy when we got back in the truck with our bags of new toys and dog food. But the fun wasn't over quite yet! Next we went through the McDonald's drive through! She got a tiny taste of my biscuit, which she ate with gusto. I decided just one drive through really wasn't enough for my little shop-aholic. Next we drove through the Starbucks drive through, where they always have a dog treat bin at the window. I got my yummy peppermint Mocha with whip, and she got her crunchy dog biscuit! She had a nice long nap this afternoon with her brothers and her sister, since her big adventure did take a bit of energy. Next time I put on her collar, I think I'll take her shopping again, cuz girls gotta shop! | | Nancy Medina Art
